CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES is involved in several national or international collaborative projects like Horizon 2020, Eureka, FUI, PSPC and so on.

We bring to the consortiums our engineering skills on mechatronicpiezoelectricityelectromagnetismmagnetostrictive to name but a few. In the same time these fruitful collaborations with industrial and academic partners allow us to overcome technical limitations and develop innovative products or building blocks.

LASERWAY: EXTREMELY HIGH-SPEED PROCESSES FOR SUSTAINABLE AND FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING

The LaserWay project aims to revolutionize the manufacturing industry by replacing conventional, inefficient, and environmentally harmful methods with highly flexible production lines based on high-speed laser technology.

PROOFED: PIEZOELECTRIC MOTORS FOR EXTREME CONDITIONS

The objective of the PROOFED project is to develop a new piezoelectric motor to be used in extreme conditions. The optronics, the nuclear and the aerospace markets need a «proofed motor» product able to operate continuously under thermal, vacuum, vibrations and magnetic environment. These motors exploit the patented concept of CTEC in inertial stepping piezo actuators.

FACELIFT: FLUIDIC ACTUATORS FOR CONTROL OF STEALTH AIRCRAFT

The FACELIFT project aims to improve strategic surveillance capability, survivability and operational resilience for future stealth aircraft, which will be more stealthy and more maneuverable than the current generation of military assets such as the European MALE-RPAS.

FILUSONIC PROJECT: FILTRATION ASSISTED WITH HIGH POWER ULTRASOUNDS

The aim of the FILUSONIC project is to develop a new range of self-cleaning filtration products, based on the use of power ultrasonic excitation. As member of the consortium, CTEC will design and manufacture the resonant devices, test the proper behaviour under loaded conditions and improve the solution for scaled-up prototype.

FAST SMART PROJECT: FAST AND NANO-ENABLED SMART MATERIALS, STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS FOR ENERGY HARVESTING

The overall objective of the Fast-Smart project is to develop high quality nano-structured materials, nano-manufacturing technologies and innovative product designs to meet challenges on both quality and cost issues, and to deliver novel but also economically viable approaches of harvesting, storing and using energy concerning kinetic/ mechanical, solar and thermal energy harvesting.

COQTEL PROJECT: CORROSION QUANTIFICATION THROUGH EXTENDED USE OF LAMB WAVES

COQTEL is an ANR project, which consortium is made of 4 partners: CTEC, I2M, PIMM and RESCOLL. The aim of the project is to develop a solution for corrosion monitoring on airplane structures, by using Lamb waves and by combining both passive and active interrogations.

MucoPiezoRheo Project

MucoPiezoRheo Project, led by Rheonova in partnership with Cedrat Technologies (CTEC), TIMA and LRP laboratories of Grenoble-Alpes University, was selected as part of the PSPC program (Structuring Projects for Competitiveness). MucoPiezoRheo aims to establish a personalized monitoring tool for patients with cystic fibrosis and to anticipate exacerbations phases.

OLIVE-SOUND PROJECT

The OLIVE-SOUND project aims to develop an Ultrasonic (US) reactor for the treatment of olive paste which enhances the working capacity of exiting olive mills. It reduces malaxation time, the current bottleneck in olive oil extraction, by 70% and hence reduces energy usage by 65%.

ACONIT PROJECT: ACTUATORS FOR SURGE CONTROL IN GAS TURBINE

The objective of the ACONIT project is to design, manufacture and test actuators for flow control for an implantation in an aircraft engine. The actuators will fulfill aeronautics requirement in order to increase the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) in this domain. To do so, the first objective of the work is to improve the knowledge of the flow physics of an efficient flow control system by joint numerical and experimental analysis performed in a low speed, single stage axial compressor.

GUDGET PROJECT: GUST GENERATORS AND MODEL DESIGN FOR TRANSONIC WIND TUNNEL TESTS

The GUDGET project will design, manufacture, calibrate, verify and finally install in the ONERA S3Ch Wind Tunnel (WT) an enhanced gust generator system and an aeroelastic halfmodel connected to the WT side wall, with the purpose to support ONERA in the execution of a WT test campaign and gather information on the aeroelastic behaviour of the model under high amplitude gust conditions, with the acquisition of a relevant database will allow to assess the numerical capabilities for the prediction of gust loads.

DIPSA PROJECT: A NEEDLELESS INJECTION MEDICAL DEVICE

The objective of the project is the design, production and testing of a functional prototype of a needle-free injection medical device using a piezoelectric actuator. The device is supplied with substance to be injected by inserting a consumable cartridge from the market.

FORTH PROJECT: Force-controlled tool holder for vibration-less,accurate and chip jamming-free internal turning

The FORTH project aims at developing a mechatronic tool holder to provide a solution to problems that currently limit machining quality and/or productivity in turning operations.

MEPCOS - Pointing mechanisms for space optical communication

The MEPCOS project, funded by BPI France in the framework of FRANCE RELANCE, aims to ensure the industrialization of optical pointing mechanisms. CTEC’s triple experience in spaceoptronics and innovation will be used in MEPCOS to achieve high-performance and  cost effective space mechanisms for constellation markets. The activities planned in the MEPCOS project aim to:

  • Finalize and qualify the space design of our P-FSM (Piezo-Fast Steering Mirrors) and M-FSM (Magnetic Fast Steering Mirrors) models
  • Set up and organize our facilities for series production

Photo-Piezo-ActUAtors bAsed on Light sensitive coMPosite

The aim of PULSE-COM project is to combine photo-mobile polymers (PMP) and lead-free piezo-composite (PZL), to develop and to integrate a new class of Photo-Piezo-Actuators. CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES will be involved in PMP and PZL characterization and will design and test two micro machines: an opto-switch and an optical micro-valve starting from the PMP-PZL materials prepared by partners.

AUDACITY PROJECT: COMPACT POWERFUL AND RELIABLE PIEZO ACTUATOR FOR LANDING GEAR SYSTEMS

The objective of the AUDACITY project is to make the demonstration for a compact powerful and reliable piezoelectric actuator for future locking applications in aerospace. The actuator typology proposed in AUDACITY is based on a 100% piezoelectric actuator technology. The long stroke is achieved by an accumulation of steps, such as the Inchworm piezo motor type or resonant. Although the principle is not new, the passed developments highlighted limitations on several aspects: thermal stability, limited speed, power management, poor friction interfaces…

SYNJET3C PROJECT: SYNTHETIC JET FLOW CONTROL CFD AND CHARACTERIZATION

The H2020 Cleansky 2 project SYNJET3C aims at reducing the aircrafts energy consumption by decreasing flow separation on the wings. Active Flow Control (AFC) consists in a mechanism which pulses air from a nozzle at high flow and velocity. The objective of the project is to improve the understanding of SJA behavior and to define the next generation of SJA.

CTEC is in charge of building a system model of the SJA in quiescent air condition and cross flow condition. This model will be a tool to predict the performance of a new SJA…

REMAP PROJECT: REAL-TIME CONDITION-BASED MAINTENANCE FOR ADAPTIVE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE PLANNING

The H2020 ReMAP project will contribute to reinforce the European leadership in aeronautics by developing an open-source solution for aircraft maintenance, the Integrated Fleet Health Management (IFHM) system. By replacing fixed-interval inspections with adaptive condition-based interventions, ReMAP will have an estimated benefit to the European aviation of more than 700 million Euros per year. This is due to a direct decrease in maintenance costs, reduced unscheduled aircraft maintenance events, and increased aircraft availability. ReMAP’s IFHM will be available for certification and reliable implementation on diverse aircraft systems and structures.

PROTECT PROJECT: PRE-COMMERCIAL LINES FOR PRODUCTION OF ANTIMICROBIAL SURFACE AND ANTIBIOFILM TEXTILES FOR MEDICAL APPLICATION

The H2020 project PROTECT will develop a versatile platform of 3 pre-commercial lines for production of antimicrobial textiles for hospitals and public areas, and anti-biofilm medical devices and water treatment membranes. The project is coordinated by Univesitat Politècnica de Catalunya and has a duration of 54 months. As member of the PROTECT consortium, CTEC is developing devices for catheters batch treatment by ultrasound and roll to roll textile treatment by ultrasound.

Project PROTECT established The Pilot Laboratory Network (PLN) gathering highly qualified experts from the most eminent research institutes and academies to provide research-related service to the European industries.

FLOCOS PROJECT: DEVELOPMENT & MANUFACTURING OF SMART AFC DRIVE & CONTROL SYSTEM

The H2020 Clean Sky 2 project FloCos is coordinated by Trisitec UG and performed with the help of Cedrat Technologies. The project will focus on an integrated Active Flow Control (AFC) actuator driving system taking into account the specific requirements of piezoelectrically driven Synthetic Jet Actuators.

ROXTAR PROJECT: MAGNETIC ALIGNMENT LOCALISATION & TRACKING (MALT) SYSTEM

In the frame of ROXTAR, a MINALOGIC project dedicated to develop the next generation of XRay sensor for medical application, it has been spotted by our partner TRIXELL the interest to develop the capability of a blinded alignment between the imager and Xray emitter. Cedrat Technologies (CTEC) designed and developed an accurate contactless magnetic long range (1.5 m) alignment function, based on magnetic technologies.

The scope is to increase the competence of the European manufacturing industry, reducing the gap between the programmed process and the real part. CTEC develops an innovative force sensor for machine tool application.

ASPIC Project: Piezo and compact synthetic jet actuator

The ASPIC project aims at developing a robust and effcient synthetic jet actuator (SJA) which will be evaluated inside the vertical fin of an aircraft. It will be coordinated by CTEC with the help of ONERA and funded via the Rapid project from DGA, French Ministry of Defence.

The VIPER (Valve hIgh PERformances for flow control separation in aircraft) Cleansky project aims at developing, manufacturing and testing piezoelectric valves to accurately control the air flow (Active Flow Control Actuators) on transport and business aircrafts.

PPSMPAB: Piezo power supply module for piezo actuator bench

The Eu FP7 Clean Sky PPSMPAB (Piezo Power Supply Module for Piezo Actuator Bench) project aimed at developing a Piezo Power Supply (PPS) offering the highest required power (9kVA) with a high effciency, for driving piezo actuators, accounting for helicopter applications such as active flaps. Cedrat Technologies CTEC (coordinator, SME) and UJF-G2ELAB (partner, lab from Grenoble Joseph Fourier University) formed a consortium using their shared experience on piezoelectric actuators and high effciency high power supplies to meet the GRC requested by the PPSMPAB project. The topic manager was Eurocopter.

AEROPZT Project: Development of materials & processes for the application of Piezo materials in aero engine controls

AEROPZT will address the challenge of developing more capable piezoelectric ceramics, protective encapsulation systems and actuator designs, targeting fluid flow control challenges in harsh / High Temperatures (-80 +250°C) conditions. In this application the aim is to maintain precise control of flow between pilot-mains fuel streams to enable combustion processes that reduce NOx emissions. Additional active control elements include management of lean-combustion thermoacoustic instability and lean-blow out.

DYNXPERTS Project: Plug-and-Produce Components for Manufacturing Systems with Optimal Dynamic Performance

The main objective of this project is to develop a series of portable plug-and-produce components to improve the overall productivity and process quality of production line.In the framework of this project, CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES has designed and built a high power controllable magnetic actuator: the so called MICA 500L.

CoLaBATS Project: Cobalt and lanthanide recovery from batteries

The aim of this project is to develop hydrometallurgical (as opposed to pyrometallurgical) processes for the recovery of materials including rare earth metals. CTEC’s role in COLABATS deals with the ultrasonic (US) system to be used in the main reactor and final tank. CTEC will design, manufacture and test an appropriate US system, including the vibration generator, sonotrode, and electronics that will be adapted to the specific ionic liquid to produce homogeneous ultrasonic vibrations to promote breaking the battery electrode structure.

E-Lift3 project: Electrification of a variable valve train with 3 degrees of freedom for gasoline engines

The e-Lift3 project aims at developing an electromagnetically activated

variable valve train component making it possible to optimize low engine size with 3/4 cylinder in a non-exclusive way. The system may be installed on the air intake or exhaust and on all or part of the valves of the target engine. In the framework of this automotive project CTEC has manufactured a series of electromagnetic actuators requiring means of production like a new winding tool for the fabrication of coils with wires from 80um to 3mm.

FLUMIN Project : magnetic actuator conception for medical injection

The fluMIn3 deals with a new generation of medical injection device,miniaturized and automated, suitable for any type of injection.

The aim is to develop a smart syringe that can be easily used by people not belonging to the medical staff, to achieve safe injections, microdoses of the product, sometimes very expensive, such as in the case of treatment of some cancers or auto-immune diseases.

The SONO project aims at developing a pilot line of antibacterial and antifungal medical textiles based on a sonochemical process patented at BIU laboratories. CEDRAT TECHNOLOGIES will develop the mechatronic hardware for this pilot line including the transducers.
