ReMAP puts together a comprehensive consortium to develop an innovative Integrated Fleet Health Management (IFHM) solution that, by replacing fixed interval inspections with adaptive condition-based interventions, will have an estimated benefit to the European aviation of more than 700 million Euros per year, due to a direct decrease in maintenance costs, reduced unscheduled aircraf maintenance events, and an increased aircraf availability.
Cedrat Technologies (CTEC) is responsible for managing the technical activities of ReMAP WP3 which concerns the development of the selected sensor technologies for damage monitoring and will drive the realisation of CTEC share in ReMAP focusing on piezo solutions for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). Ultrasonic waves generated by piezo-electric patches offer a very promising way to perform SHM of composite aeronautic structures. Permanently bonded sensor arrays are interesting for on-demand interrogation of the structure in order to localize damages (pits), or to follow damage progression (cracks). As a supplier CTEC is also asked for designing and producing an electronic device to allow the transducers to run in either pitch catch or pulse echo modes. CTEC Lamb Wave Detection System or LWDS is redefined according to this requirements to make a complete electronic device adapted for SHM applications. Reliability and reproducibility are the guidelines of CTEC activities and development.
